ESB From Sand to Carbon Scoring

sandtrooper

Concept
Hello and welcome to sandtrooper8867's Fett build aka this could also turn into how NOT to build an ESB Fett. After almost three years, I've gotten 95% of the components, so am finally getting started on the assembly. For whatever reason working on costumes plays havoc with my anxiety and OCD, so it is hard for me to get going - especially when considering the entire Fett costume. So with that in mind this may be a long and drawn-out affair.

Helmet: C Stallard Designs
Armor: Wasted Fett with painting by Fett 4 Real
Jetpack : Darth Voorhees/7CS
Jumpsuit/vest/neck seal: Arkady

Ammo belt: Handmade Horror Shop on Etsy
EE-3: Sidewinder
Sidearm & holster: Facebook

Flame thrower: CombatBaby
Dental files: 01 Hawk

Hey I’m right there with you when it comes to the OCD and anxiety thing lol plus depression but never mind that lol I’ve actually found that this hobby helps tremendously and once you get going I think you’ll get it down!!

Here are the components of my suit minus the ammo belt (which I forgot to add) and the jetpack. I call this Fett loses to a steamroller.

Awesome photos and suit! Would you be able to upload the photos to the site? Forums have a major issue with hosted photos that eventually end up going missing. Makes a graveyard out of threads.

Three of the four shin tools (stil working on the squeegee). I'm not convinced these look good.
The blade and 4th tool are resin prints primed then painted flat black or silver as warranted. The weathering on the stylus pieces was done with panel lining wash and a glass ink pen. Black acrylic was used for weathering on the squeegee piece of the blade and the stirrer was painted with acrylic then sanded for weathering.

Looking for some advice on the knee armor and cod/kidney armor. First I need to know what kind of material is needed for the white straps for all the pieces. Second would like some insight on how to attach the straps to the armor pieces themselves. I'm used to the stormtrooper method where snaps and snap plates are used for most of the armor.

For the knees I've always used elastic strips and snaps. For the cod/kidney I use canvas straps that aren't elastic (I just like the look better). I epoxy one part of the snap to the inside of the knee armor or cod/kidney and the other part I attach to the strap. I've also epoxied bolts in the past and used small grommets on the elastic strip. Keep in mind, I only display mine and don't troop.

Still plugging away at the Fett build, which is going slower than expected. I've started weathring the jumpsuit with the vest, pouches and gloves still to go. With that being said, I'm not sure what weathring on the vest should even look like and what color the weathering needs to be since the armor covers most of it. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hello again! Due to the unparalleled generosity of Steven Coleman, I was able to complete installing the grommets for the vest. Steven provided template armor to determine the location of the grommets, which is pictured here. Additional adjustments were made to the armor before marking the vest after these pictures were taken.

Additionally Steven loaned me his grommet installation tools for punching the holes in the vest and then for attaching the grommets. I'm very appreciative for Steven's generosity for making this happen. This was the portion of the build I was dreading most, but the template armor made it much easier along with the grommet installation tools. Hopefully a perfectly good vest wasn't ruined in the process. Unfortunately it will be a few weeks before the screws and bolts arrive to attach the armor to the vest.

I have a foolish question about the screws attached to the shoulder bells/pauldrons. Do they have the two screw plates like the chest armor pieces?
