Hi everyone,

Sideshow Collectibles just opened up the pre-orders for their new 1/4 scale premium format Boba Fett and HiC display piece.

I figured this would be a cool piece for us to look over and discuss. I’ll post my input in another post, but here is the info and the photos they’ve released so far.

ABOUT THIS PREMIUM FORMAT™ FIGURE

“He’s worth a lot to me.”
Sideshow presents the Boba Fett™ and Han Solo™ in Carbonite™ Premium Format™ Figure, a new quarter-scale Star Wars™ collectible statue worthy of only the best bounty hunters in the galaxy.
The Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite Premium Format Figure measures 27.75” tall and 11” wide as the renowned bounty hunter proudly poses in front of his latest trophy. The hunt for Han Solo has landed the smooth-talking smuggler in a block of carbonite, frozen for all the galaxy to see. Boba Fett casually gloats with relaxed posture while the unique presentation of this piece makes it appear as if his capture is floating above the carbon-freezing chamber base. Both the base and the carbonite block panels feature light-up elements to create an even more immersive display for the dual figures.
The Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite Premium Format Figure is fully sculpted to capture the iconic on-screen appearances of both beloved characters. Boba Fett can be seen wearing his signature weathered Mandalorian™ armor as it appeared in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™. His costume includes detailed sculpture mimicking his fabric undersuit, shoulder cape, and Wookiee™ braid trophies as well as his assorted weaponry and jetpack as he reclines against Han Solo. Stuck in the silvery prison, the dashing Rebel rogue is sculpted with his frozen portrait, hands, and feet visible through the unique textures of the carbon-freezing process. The containment block is complete with eight side panels, making this high-value bounty a unique treasure from top to bottom.

Try as they might, they just cant ever seem to get the blaster right..
In this case its actually pretty damn accurate save the fact the scope is facing the wrong way for ESB, and all the Molex’s are upside and facing backwards… o_O
I’ll ignore that sling and the missing 4th molex hahaha. I’d be curious if this ends up being fixed on the final production ones or if the mistake on the prototype will get mass produced into the production ones

Personally speaking I’m not a very big fan of the weird chill dudebro pose. To me its out of character. Boba’s a working man. Han was a job, and really nothing more. “Stuff this POS down in the cargo hold where I don’t have to look at his hideous frozen maw”. That and the blaster weighs a gaddamn ton.. so why on earth would he ever randomly be holding it like that. When I see these kinds of poses I automatically know the artist/designer behind it has probably never once held a real Webley, let alone a real Pew Pew

I'm still not sure where I stand on this statue. I feel like it should be much more accurate than it is. In talking with the one of the guys that was supposed to paint the prototype - it doesn't sound like anything is going to be changed, but who knows for certain.

"I was scheduled to paint this initially. I had to send it back due to my own schedule issues. I did at one point advise them on the spats, and was told they already had approval from Lucas and would not be changing them. Normally this happens when timing is already scheduled and going back on the timing schedule would create more delays." - Alex Alva

The pose *almost* looks like it tried to replicate some of the swagger we see in the PP2 photos, but with the need to contact the HiC for the internal support features of the piece - forcing an exaggeration of the pose. Maybe that's how those spats got there too...

The right turn signal is also painted red...

The failures on the EE-3 are super frustrating and distracting for me, more so than the turn signal or the pose. I think I can tell myself that this is a transitional piece between ESB and RotJ where Fett through on some spats over his ESB suit in between ESB and RotJ - heck, maybe he even turned his scope around to try it that way and liked it, so he changed the EE-3 we see in RotJ lol...

Any time I see ankle spats on an ESB, it's like nails on a chalkboard for me!!! Stripe on both sides of cape, entirely orange thruster greeblie.... would have liked to seen lighter color yellow on mythosaur shoulder. I'd still like to own one though!!!!
